The Langham was one of the first hotels in London to serve afternoon tea when it opened in 1865. After an extensive refurbishment in 2009, this tradition returned with a vengeance, and the establishment won the Tea Guild's Top London Afternoon Tea Award in 2010. In earlier times, Sherlock Holmes author, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, was one of many celebrities who would frequent the venue. Although much has changed since the initial opening, The Langham remains popular among its prestigious regulars. The grandeur room features jewelled gates at the entrance, lashings of gold detailing across the walls, high ceilings and a grand piano. For those after a traditional offering, the Wonderland Tea includes richly flavoured sandwiches, warm scones and pastries. Inspired by a jewellery collection, the decadent Bijoux Tea has open sandwiches featuring luxurious delicacies like quail’s breast, lobster or foie gras, and pastries. High Tea and the 1865 Langham High Tea are also available. Diligent service ensues - tea is topped up and treats are served regularly. The Langham is the perfect venue for a memorable celebration or special occasion and offers one of the best afternoon tea experiences in London.
