| Launched in 2007 by Finnish-born Jali Wahlsten, Nordic Bakery is an understated but stylish establishment, and great escape from busy London life. The traditional Nordic sweets reflect the wholesome, comforting style of Scandinavian baking. If the Boston Cake doesn’t appeal, the signature Cinnamon Bun - comprised of layer upon layer of warm, buttery, spiced pastry - will. The savoury menu is also notable; particularly the Rye Crusted Karelian Pie. The clientele is an eclectic mix of interesting people and creative types. In terms of design, dark blue feature walls are teamed with wooden surfaces, polished cement floors, high ceilings and exposed ventilation. This creates a modern, open, comfortable feel. Denim-apron-clad wait staff take a similarly minimalist approach to service, proving friendly but not over-bearing. |
